Directed by Barry Levinson and written by Nicholas Pileggi (Goodfellas, Casino), the film stars Robert De Niro in dual roles as Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, two legendary crime bosses who started as close allies but became bitter rivals. Their struggle for power and control changed the Mafia’s influence in America forever.
There have been rumors and discussions about a Goodfellas prequel series, with Scorsese and Pileggi reportedly interested in exploring the early years of the original film’s characters. However, as of now, no official confirmation or release date has been set.
